New Year! Same old lack of blogging....

Hi,

Is it really February already??

So what's happening in the world of Special and Different Photography? I've been busy updating price lists and planning out the year ahead and generally thinking about how I run the business....not very exciting as it doesn't involve a camera at all, but very necessary.

I did manage to do some photos the other day for Karen. Who was very pregnant and due the following day! I had hot water and towels on standby just in case. We created some lovely portraits of her bump for her.

I've also been busy finishing off some albums for the couples I had the pleasure of photographing in December last year. They've been kind enough to give me some praise as well which I'll share with you:

Just an overdue note to say thanks for taking care of the photographs at our wedding on Dec 11th; it was a pleasure to have you on board.
Thanks for all your patience on the day, and for staying on at The Hepworth to capture everyone in more relaxed mood! - Neil

Thank you for your efforts last saturday, we had a wonderful day and many people commented on how good you were. - Rachel

Thanks again for all your work on the day and subsequently, you have provided us with a great set of photos that capture the day perfectly. - Amanda

What a lovely set of comments, I am very proud of all my hard work!

Finally, I was at a wedding fair in aid of Kirklees Hospice last Sunday at Cedar Court Hotel, Wakefield. It was a really busy day with loads of interest which will hopefully lead to a few bookings to add to the ones I've already got booked in. Many thanks to all those who came and had a chat. Hope to see you again soon!

That's all for now,
David

More fashion....

Well Easter came and Easter went and thanks to the inventor of chocolate I have taken up jogging again....

But good fun was had at the Jolaby 'Injection Collection' shoot on Monday night. We had two models, Serena and Kelly, a top make up artist, Melanie Lenihan and Jo and Steven from Jolaby to make some great images. We even had Sarah Young from www.sy-models.co.uk come along to see how Kelly (who's one of her 'girls') was getting on.

So we made some great images ready to promote Jolaby's new collection.

All in a days work....

All good fun...

Hi,

It's been a busy time again. I've just been through 'The Books' and already 2009 is my best year ever; at least in financial terms anyway! So many thanks to all of those who have contributed to that success.

I've had some great photo shoots in November. Nice and varied. I've covered the opening of a museum, shot some family photos, some fashion and some work for a talent agency. I love the variety that my job brings!!

In the pipeline are some wedding fairs and a big fashion shoot. I'm also trying to get some magazine work, hopefully there will be an announcement soon....

Enjoy these samples from this month.

See you soon,
David

Lifestyle Portraits....amongst other things.

Hi,

Here's another catch up for you!

I've been shooting some lifestyle portraits recently. This means getting out and about on location and doing some portraits with a bit of a relaxed fashion edge. I had the pleasure of taking photos for Fiona and Cherie, you can see some samples below.

I've just done another shoot for Jolaby, that's their picture at the start of the blog. They're having a mid season update and as ever brought a whole rack of new clothes. We tried a slightly different style this time. I can only post one sample as I don't want to ruin their launch! The best moment of shoot came when there was a suggestion of a 'gormless' look. Had to be there probably..

Finally, it seems that future brides and grooms are really getting busy now. I've got loads of enquiries for wedding photography at the moment, thank you all, I've even got a consultation booked for a wedding happening in June 2011. Wow, that is planning ahead!

Lastly, i'm working with my suppliers to see how we can avoid any disruption due to the Postal strikes. Thanks postie. Get back to work please...

See you soon
David

New Fashion Site

Me again.

I've just uploaded my new fashion orientated site. I've separated it off from my family portraits and weddings site (www.specialanddifferent.co.uk) as they didn't really 'fit' together I thought.

Here it is: www.fashion.specialanddifferent.co.uk

I hope you like it.

New Facebook Page

Hi,

I've just set up a Facebook page to help spread the word about the great photographs I take! Become a fan by clicking on the link and you can say that you were a fan of mine before I became Vogues top photographer or Prince Williams wedding photographer...you get the drift.

Just a quicky to say that I've just signed up to advertise with hitched.co.uk

It's a great site full of good advice for the bride and groom planning their wedding. And now I'm on there too!

Church Fashion

Hi,

What a busy few days i've had! Phew... now what's been happening.....well as I mentioned last Saturday I did a shoot with my friends at Jolaby (www.jolaby.co.uk). Here are some samples from the shoot. I delivered the pictures today and Steven seemed very pleased with them.

Then on Wednesday I had a portrait session with Danny, Adam, Lindsay, Peter and Linda. I'll post some of those up when I get chance.

And then i've got a wedding to shoot on Saturday. As well as all the usual business type stuff, like advertising, putting together orders, accounts etc i'm having a really busy time. I'm not complaining though, it's good to be busy. :-)

see you soon
