Resolutions - meh....

Hi,

Ok so the New Years Resolution went out of the window very early on. No blog posts at all in February! What happened to that month??

So anyway I had a great challenge the other week when Tracey Quinn brought in her two little monkeys (her words not mine!) and said that 'They're quite shy, you probably won't get them doing much'. Well let's see about then....I had them running around like, well, little monkey's in no time. It's not all about being able to use a camera you see....

I also displayed at a wedding fair at Cedar Court Wakefield. It was a good day, lots of people showing interest in my work and i'm now in the middle of organising consultations and taking bookings. I was also due to display at a fair at Tankersley Manor in Sheffield but the snow came down and stopped the fun. However it's been reorganised for May so if you're interested get in touch with them or myself and we'll give you the details!

I'm now getting excited about the Focus on Imaging show next week. It's the countries biggest photography show, where photographers go and drool over really expensive cameras and lenses and lights and frames and albums and studio equipment....well you get the picture. Must leave my credit card at home!

Happy New Year

Hi,

Here's the first post of 2010! I will tell you my first resolution. To do more blogging this year!! I'll try anyway.

Despite the snow I've managed to pull off the biggest and best shoot I've done yet. We had three hairdressers, a make up artist, three models and the team from Jolaby (who I was doing the shoot for). Even I had an assistant. Ooh get me! Oh yeah and about £20k of rented lights, cameras and lenses.

So we did some catalogue shots in the studio then went off to sunny Sheffield for some location photography. The models were amazing. It was sub zero and they were wearing summer clothes. As soon as their coats came off they started shivering. And yet they still struck their poses when asked everytime. And how much complaining did I hear. Nothing. Awesome job ladies. Here are some samples. Go to www.jolaby.co.uk and you'll see more when they've put their new seasons clothes up.

Here's to a great 2010, from my point of view it's looking good so far!

All good fun...

Hi,

It's been a busy time again. I've just been through 'The Books' and already 2009 is my best year ever; at least in financial terms anyway! So many thanks to all of those who have contributed to that success.

I've had some great photo shoots in November. Nice and varied. I've covered the opening of a museum, shot some family photos, some fashion and some work for a talent agency. I love the variety that my job brings!!

In the pipeline are some wedding fairs and a big fashion shoot. I'm also trying to get some magazine work, hopefully there will be an announcement soon....

Enjoy these samples from this month.

See you soon,
David

Lifestyle Portraits....amongst other things.

Hi,

Here's another catch up for you!

I've been shooting some lifestyle portraits recently. This means getting out and about on location and doing some portraits with a bit of a relaxed fashion edge. I had the pleasure of taking photos for Fiona and Cherie, you can see some samples below.

I've just done another shoot for Jolaby, that's their picture at the start of the blog. They're having a mid season update and as ever brought a whole rack of new clothes. We tried a slightly different style this time. I can only post one sample as I don't want to ruin their launch! The best moment of shoot came when there was a suggestion of a 'gormless' look. Had to be there probably..

Finally, it seems that future brides and grooms are really getting busy now. I've got loads of enquiries for wedding photography at the moment, thank you all, I've even got a consultation booked for a wedding happening in June 2011. Wow, that is planning ahead!

Lastly, i'm working with my suppliers to see how we can avoid any disruption due to the Postal strikes. Thanks postie. Get back to work please...

See you soon
David

New Fashion Site

Me again.

I've just uploaded my new fashion orientated site. I've separated it off from my family portraits and weddings site (www.specialanddifferent.co.uk) as they didn't really 'fit' together I thought.

Here it is: www.fashion.specialanddifferent.co.uk

I hope you like it.

Massive Update

Hi! Remember me?

Well it's been a bit busy round here, so here's the update....

I've had some great shoots happening and i've been planning a few more. I've had the pleasure of photographing people who've been to Juilliard School, New York (as made famous in High School Musical), aspiring actresses and, of course, families.

I also had the great pleasure of working with Melanie Lenihan (www.melanielenihan.com) again. She's a brilliant make up artist and has got an audition soon to work on the next Harry Potter film. Good Luck Mel!

I've also been busy sorting out some lifestyle portrait shoots and they're now booked in for this week. A little germ of an idea has popped into my head about doing some location bridal shots as well, hmmm... if I get time.

Anyway here's some samples...

I hope you're all well.

Re-branding

Hi,

Well i've been busy giving my 'corporate identity' a bit of a face lift.

Go and check it out at www.specialanddifferent.co.uk

If some of you are wondering where the fashion photography has gone, well don't panic. It will be re-appearing shortly on it's own site. Hold your breath....
